Elizabeth Bond – Head of Fundraising
Having spent the last two years fundraising for the Multiple Sclerosis Centre at Southmead Hospital, I am delighted to have joined the Southmead Hospital Charity as their new Trust and Major Donor Manager to help support a wide variety of projects throughout the hospital. I have worked in the health charity sector for over 10 years working for the National Osteoporosis Society before taking a career break to have my children. Prior to that, I worked within the arts in Cardiff.
I have lived in Bristol for over 15 years and my husband and I spend our weekends exploring the city parks and play spaces with our young children Sam and Evie – who are both Southmead babies!
Adrian Brown – Community Appeals Manager
My professional background is a creative one, having worked for many years within the graphic and web design industry and more recently I have joined the world of charity and the amazing things that can be achieved by nurturing the good will of people in the community through events and supporting them on their donor journey.
Southmead Hospital has a long tradition of local support and I really enjoy working with people in the community who want to say thank you for the care they, or those close to them, have received in our hospitals or those that just want to make a difference to the future of healthcare in Bristol. I am constantly inspired by the brilliant things people will do to support their hospitals, and it is a pleasure to be able to help make their efforts as successful as they can possibly be.
In my spare time, I love to socialise with my friends and family and spend quality time with my two cats. I also enjoy many artistic pursuits including writing, drawing, painting and performance. You might even see me running about the streets of Bristol to keep my fitness levels up and get ready for the next charity run in support of Southmead Hospital Charity. Anita Rummels – Fundraising Assistant
I have spent the majority of my early career in the retail and hospitality industries. After a brief career break following the birth of my third child, I came to the conclusion that I wanted to work in healthcare and particularly within Women’s and Children’s Health. I was lucky enough to land myself a position here at Southmead and have spent the last five and a half years working in many different areas.
Earlier this year, I had the privilege to work as part of the Capital Projects Team whose primary role was to ensure the new hospital was ready for patients and staff to move in. I am now very excited to be part of the charity, helping to develop it and raise awareness and funds for a hospital that has played a major part in mine and my family’s life, from having all my three children here to receiving treatment as an inpatient.
I manage the charity’s media, social media and other communications channels, marketing campaigns and strategy to promote the great work of our fundraisers, the charity and North Bristol NHS Trust. I work part-time alongside Sarah and together we love to come up with new and creative ways of celebrating the fantastic work that people do for the charity and for the NHS. I am a journalist by trade having graduated with a first class degree in Journalism from the University of Sheffield and spending the early part of my career as a journalist and news reporter at the Lincolnshire Echo, the Western Daily Press and the Press Association. I then became press and social media manager for North Bristol NHS Trust and after becoming a mum for the first time in 2014, I moved over to the role of Communications Manager for Southmead Hospital Charity. I have two young sons who bring joy, laughter, love and lots of snotty mayhem to my world!
