Bristol Urological Institute (BUI)
As one of the largest urological centres in the country, the BUI at Southmead Hospital is involved in many national research initiatives, including studies in functional urology, prostate, kidney & bladder cancers.
The BUI is also campaigning to have a national screening programme for prostate cancer.
Your support will help find better treatments for prostate cancer, fund pioneering research, raise awareness, educate and give information to people and carers in order to save and improve lives.
The work of the BUI falls into four principal areas:
Research in urological cancer, bladder & pelvic floor function and upper urinary tract & kidney disease.
As a major national and international education centre in the training of medical students, junior hospital doctors, consultants, GPs and specialist nurses; ensuring patients are treated by highly trained staff that have the most up to date knowledge of treatment.
The Prostate Cancer Care Appeal raises funds for high quality research into prostate cancer, and other urological cancers - bladder, kidney and testicular cancer. The appeal also supports Southmead Hospital's urology department which provides treatment, support and information to patients and their families.
