NHS 70 - Celebrating the 70th anniversary of the National Health Service

Staff and patient

The National Health Service is 70 years old on July 5 2018 and we've got lots planned to mark the occasion and say thank you to the NHS and its staff - and we'd love you to get involved too. You can make a real difference to the NHS where you live by donating or fundraising to help us to continue our work in funding medical research, new technologies and improving lives for patients and their families.

NHS Big7Tea

Across the country people will be hosting the Big7tea tea party to raise money for hospital charities as a thank you to the NHS. And we'll be holding our own Big7tea to enable people to share a cup of tea and their stories of what the NHS means to them. We'd love to see you there on July 5 in the atrium of Southmead Hospital to join us for a cuppa and cake for a suggested donation.

If you'd like to host your own Big7tea at home, work, school or in your local community and raise money for Southmead Hosptial Charity please get in touch with the team for a free fundraising pack. Remember you can raise money for the general hospital, a department that is close to your heart or for our Prostate Cancer Care Appeal to buy a second surgical robot to treat more urological cancers and save more lives.

£70 in 70 days

Could you raise £70 in 70 days? From April 26 to July 5 (70 days) what could you do to raise £70 for Southmead Hosptial Charity to mark the 70th anniversary? Here's some ideas;

  • Pop a pound in your donation pot every day for 70 days
  • Instead of buying your usual takeaway coffee save the money to reach £70
  • Once a week why not walk to work instead of catching the bus or driving and donate the saved fare/petrol/parking money
  • Organise a cake sale or fancy dress day at school, nursery, work or in your community to raise £70
  • If you''d prefer you can donate £70 online here

You can choose which department or area of the hospital to donate your £70 to - or choose our Prostate Cancer Care Appeal to help us reach that second surgical robot to fight cancer. If you'd like to find out more please contact us.

Our gift to the NHS

To celebrate the NHS's big 7-0, Southmead Hospital Charity will be giving a special 'birthday gift' to North Bristol NHS Trust on July 5. Keep in touch with us here to find out what that will be!
