Marathon In March

Run your way and join our superhero, Tornado in Southmead Hospital Charity’s virtual fundraising event

Event detail

Have you always dreamed of running a marathon?

Southmead Hospital Superhero, Tornado is leading the way and showing 'you can' as our virtual running challenge returns for it's 2nd year.

The premise is simple. Go at your own pace and run 26.2 miles within the 31 days of March and support our Prostate Cancer Care Appeal or one of our causes close to your heart.

All you have to do is create an online fundraising page through the link below and you're up and running.

You choose your start line, finish line and everything in between. Run in your local park, footpaths, favourite beach, up a mountain or even on the treadmill in the gym. You can run a mile a day or over a few weekend sessions. The miles will soon add up over the month and you can take a break whenever you want. You might even get hooked and decide to run even more - the choice is yours.

For all those fit people out there who can run a marathon with your eyes closed, why not set the stakes higher and challenge yourself to do multiple marathons and see how many times you can run 26.2 miles in the month.

You could also add a competitive streak to the challenge and ask your team at work, school or local gym/club to be involved and create a team page. See who can raise the most money, reach the target distance first or run the furthest. Glory awaits!

Once you've set up your fundraising page, link with Map My Fitness or another fitness app of your choice to help measure your miles.

Keep updating your page as you go and let all your friends, family and colleagues know how you are getting on and why you have decided to raise funds for our super hospital.

We are asking all our runners to support our £2 million Prostate Cancer Care Appeal which will give men in the South West the very best prospect of recovery and survival. However, if there is another area of the hospital important to you, just let us know.

We'd love to see and hear how you are getting on over the month so don't forget to like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter or Instagram and message away.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch with the fundraising team on 0117 414 0170 or email:
