Abseil raises over £32,000

Thanks to all the brave folk who took part, our first ever abseil event has raised a staggering £32,000.

The event took place earlier this month, and 117 people abseiled from the top of our Hospital's iconic Brunel building. The abseilers ranged in age from 15 to an impressive 88 years old.

“This is the first time we’ve hosted an abseil and have been bowled over by the enthusiasm of everyone who signed up to do it.” Explains our community appeals manager, Adrian Brown.

“The amount our abseilers have raised has far exceeded our expectations and sponsorship money is continuing to come in.  We’re very grateful to everyone who took part, and to their supporters - it was a great day for all, and we’ll definitely be repeating the event again next year.”

Most of the abseilers raised money for our Prostate Cancer Care Appeal to fund 2 surgical robots to treat men with prostate cancer, and other areas of the hospital were also supported.
