Lovely to meet members of the Vee Dub Family this week who came in to hand over the amazing £1,017 they have raised for our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
Two members of the group, Sophie Jones and Aaron Paice, have a little boy Jaydon who was born prematurely at 29 weeks and has spent nearly two months being cared for in NICU. Their family and friends came up with the idea of a camper van Christmas event to raise the money for the Unit. Over 60 camper vans took part – all cruised from Ashton Court in Bristol to Portishead last month, bedecked and bejewelled with festive fairy lights. Quite a sight!
And the good news is that Jaydon is now well enough to go home to his family in Portishead this week.
“We’re so grateful to all the members of the group for holding this event and raising so much money.” Says Adrian Brown, our Community Appeals Manager.
“Sophie and Aaron and their family have been through a difficult time, and it’s fantastic that their friends wanted to get busy fundraising for us as a big thank you.”
The money the group has raised will go towards supporting the Unit which provides intensive care, high dependency care, special care and transitional care for hundreds of babies each year.
