The Great Brunel Buskathon is launched!

Calling all performers!  Are you a singer, dancer, actor or magician? Perhaps you can juggle or mime? Whatever your talent, we would like you to take part in The Great Brunel Buskathon throughout June and use your performance skills to raise money for us.

“We want to harness the power of performance throughout the month of June,” explains our community appeals manager, Adrian Brown. “We know the region is bulging with talented performers of all types, and we want to ask as many as possible to ‘busk’ or perform and raise money for us at the same time.

“We’ll be hosting a variety of Buskathon performances in the Brunel Building here at Southmead Hospital for patients, staff and visitors to enjoy.  We’d also like performers to get busy and collect for us during their own shows and in their own premises.  Perhaps a school would like to host a concert, or a band might have a gig planned and will be able to have a collection for us.

“There are countless ways you can fundraise. It could be as simple as finding an audience, putting out our collection bucket, and watch the donations come in when you start performing.”

Solo performers, bands, choirs, community drama groups, businesses with talented staff, and schools can all get involved.  Here’s how:

  • ask for a retiring collection at a planned performance
  • organise an ‘in aid of’ show
  • busk in public
  • arrange an office-based or in-store entertainment
  • have a collection for the charity at your band's next gig
  • hold a cloakroom collection
  • organise a sponsored performance challenge

All money raised during the Buskathon will help make a difference to patients being treated at Southmead Hospital and across the North Bristol NHS Trust.
