Hospital team to take on the SW Military Challenge

A team of staff members from North Bristol NHS Trust is this weekend bravely taking on the South West NHS Military Challenge to raise money for us.

The Challenge takes place on Dartmoor across the whole weekend, with teams from NHS Trusts completing exercises and training designed for military reservists.  The exercises will include an assault course, a cross-country run, rifle shooting and a simulated battlefield - all challenging the teams under military conditions whilst putting their medical knowledge and team spirit to the test.

All of our team members live in Bristol and work here at Southmead Hospital, their jobs including a radiographer, a theatre administrator, and a nurse.  Their ages range from 21 – 50 and all are doing the challenge as a way of setting themselves personal goals whilst raising valuable funds for us.

Nigel Bush, a team member, comments: “I’m most looking forward to meeting the various challenges of the event and completing it with a sense of achievement whilst maintaining my competitive pride and dignity!

“It’s a great idea to combine a challenging event with raising funds for the hospital.”

The team members have been getting fit for the challenge, doing various sporting activities and classes.
