Jack and the Beanstalk to raise money for our Hospital

A village pantomime in Kingswood will be raising funds for us as a thank you for the treatment local mum Sharon Simpson and her daughter received in our intensive care and maternity units.

Sharon Simpson was pregnant with her much longed-for second child when she was taken ill.  She was admitted here to Southmead Hospital where it was discovered she had cancer. Sharon was in and out of hospital throughout the pregnancy and when she was 33 weeks pregnant she was taken into our Intensive Care Unit where it was decided an emergency C-section should be performed.

Baby Merryn Grace made her way into the world and Sharon was put into a coma which lasted 9 days.

“All of the Southmead teams were incredible in their care of Sharon and the baby.” Explains friend and panto organiser, Gillian Piper.

“We all wanted to thank the Hospital and Sharon’s brother Wayne Fifield came up with the idea of a pantomime to raise money for Southmead Hospital Charity - specifically haematology, the medical day care, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and maternity units.”

The pantomime is on 27th and 28th October at Kingswood Village Hall and Sharon and Merryn will be in the front row.  For further info and tickets please email gillianLpiper@gmail.com
