Last year Lewis Jackson was seriously hurt in a car accident. He suffered several fractures to his back, and sustained very severe brain injuries.
He was treated at Southmead Hospital where he spent just over three weeks in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) before being transferred to a neurological ward. In February this year he was moved to Frenchay’s Brain Injury Rehabilitation Unit for intense therapy. He underwent physiotherapy, psychotherapy, speech and language therapy, hydro therapy and many more.
Lewis has had to relearn how to walk, talk, eat and do all of the things that we take for granted.
Last month Lewis finally returned home. To thank the ICU at Southmead, and the Frenchay unit, Lewis and his family hosted a charity event at The Star Inn, Wotton-Under-Edge earlier this month. The very successful evening raised an amazing £1600 for both Southmead’s ICU and Frenchay’s Rehabilitation Unit.
Lewis says; " It's been a long hard few months and I couldn't have got through it without my family or the hospital staff at Southmead. I want to thank everyone for everything they have done for me and my family."
We’re very grateful to the family for all of their fundraising efforts and for sharing their story.
