Local family raise over £1300 for our ICU
We had some very special visitors today. The Ashmore family called in to draw the winning tickets in the raffle they have organised to raise money for our Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Martin Ashmore, 59, had a stroke earlier this year and, following surgery, spent 5 days in our ICU. His family were so grateful for the care he received that they organised a raffle in their local area of Hanham and managed to secure some very generous prizes from local businesses.
“As a family we have always liked to support causes, and my wife Carole and daughters Carlee and Rhea wanted to say thank you by raising funds for the Unit. I received exceptional care here at Southmead and we’re pleased that we can give something back.” Explains Martin.
For the raffle draw the family were joined by staff from ICU who remember Martin from his time on the ward.
