Superhero Snowdon hike raises over £3,500
The amazing folk from iconnet digital agency in Gloucester popped in yesterday with a cheque for over £3,500 which they raised earlier this year by doing a sponsored hike up Snowdon.
The team decided to raise money for us as a thank you for the life-saving treatment their colleague Luke Williams received here last year when it was discovered he was suffering from a brain tumour.
‘During a routine appointment my optician noticed something wasn’t right and advised me to contact my GP.’ Explains Luke. ‘That led to an MRI scan, followed by a CT scan after which doctors diagnosed a tumour requiring surgery. I was immediately referred to Southmead Hospital and surgeons operated the very next day.”
Luke had a low-grade glioma tumour removed. Two weeks after the operation he was allowed home to Gloucestershire to complete his recovery, and doctors are now really pleased with his progress.
‘I can’t thank the nurses and doctors at Southmead Hospital enough for their care and support.’ Says Luke.
‘Since I returned to work, my colleagues have demonstrated their thanks for Southmead’s staff by making the hospital iconnet’s chosen charity for 2016.” The team decided to do the Snowdon hike as Luke enjoys walking, although it was a tough, long day of walking in foggy conditions.
We are massively grateful to iconnet for their support, and you can still sponsor them here.
