Volunteer for Southmead Hospital Charity

Thank you

We need you! We would love to have more volunteers join our team to help us increase the work we do to support patients and staff.

Our work makes a lasting difference to the lives of over 300,000 patients who are treated by our health services every year and we couldn’t do it without the support of people like you.

We raise £1.4 million a year for North Bristol NHS Trust but we know we can do even more with the help of dedicated volunteers.

Your time is just as precious to us so if you would like to volunteer for the charity we would love to hear from you.

Elizabeth Bond, head of fundraising, said: "There is an army of hard-working and dedicated volunteers at North Bristol NHS Trust who provide so much care, support and help to staff and patients.

"Volunteers are an important part of what we do, and we fund regular thanksgiving services to mark their committment to the Trust.

"But we would like more volunteers to help the charity by attending fundriasing events, supporting our fundraisers through bucket collections, helping our team set up events like the Great Brunel Buskathon, or helping to pack the Christmas gift bags that we give to patients.

"Whether you're interested in working with fundriasers, collecting donations or you're skilled in event or office admin or management, we would love to have you on board!"

Annette Hamlen, volunteers with the charity for one day a week, she said: "I prepare resources and marketing materials, and also help out at evening and weekend events where I might hand out leaflets or hold one of our collection buckets.

"I also set up the weekly Bake Well Wednesday cake sales in Brunel and enjoy seeing familiar faces coming each week for their treats.

"I want to give something back to Southmead and I enjoy volunteering and helping out here each week.  I feel included and valued and sense that I’m involved in something very worthwhile.”
