From cupcakes and chocolate cake to meringues and macarons, our 10 Bake Challenge is designed for bakers of all ages, whether you’re just starting out or have years of experience under your apron.

  3. Set an achievable goal to complete the big 10! We suggest 10 bakes in 10 weeks for the ultimate baking challenge.
  4. Ask your friends and family to sponsor you, sell off your tasty treats or hold an online auction to raise some extra dough!
  5. Complete the final challenge and receive your exclusive 10 Bake Challenge certificate, certifying you as a Star Baker.

We have two tasty sets of challenges to choose from. For first time bakers we would suggest starting with the Star Baker Challenges and if you’re a returning baker, why not select the Crème de la Crème Challenges for your next gastronomic adventure. However, if you fancy mixing and matching, it’s your choice. You might even want to come up with your own challenges!

By ‘baking’ things better for Southmead Hospital, we can continue to fund state-of-the-art equipment, pioneering research and other vital projects that will have a huge impact on our dedicated staff and the patients in their care during these incredibly difficult times.

What is the 10 Bake Challenge?

Our flagship virtual baking fundraiser! Test your baking skills and take on 10 exciting baking challenges set by us (or choose your own) to raise money for your local hospital.

How much does it cost to take part?

There’s no cost to take part, you will just need to cover your cost of ingredients and any baking tools you might like to use.

Can children take part?

Yes! The 10 Bake Challenge is popular with young baking enthusiasts too. Challenges can be adapted to suit all baking abilities.

Do I have to be good at baking?

No, it’s supposed to be a challenge! Whether you find that in practising a new skill, baking something completely new or completing 10 bakes within a strict time frame set by yourself. Try your best, have fun and learn from any baking blips along the way!

I’m an experienced baker or I’ve got my own cake business, can I take part?

Absolutely! If you think our challenges aren’t quite enough of a challenge for you, you can always put your own twist on them or come up with an unusual theme for your own 10 bakes of choice.

How much do I have to raise?

Our recommended minimum fundraising target is £300. Get sponsored for your baking efforts, sell your bakes to friends and family or hold an online auction on your social media. Perhaps you could hold a cake sale at your workplace, school or social club?

How does the 10 Bake Challenge work for groups?

It’s up to you! You could allocate the different challenges or ask members to pick a surprise challenge from a hat and auction each one within the group. Or why not organise group challenges and vote for your favourite to add an exciting competitive element before selling them off in a bake sale?

What’s included in the fundraising pack?

You’ll find a list of downloadable PDFs in the resources section on this page. Our pack includes challenge sets, cake flags, health and safety guidance and all the essential information you need to help you raise some dough. If you would prefer to be sent the fundraising pack in the post, just let us know.

Do I have to complete the 10 Bake Challenge in 10 weeks?

We recommend trying to complete the 10 Bake Challenge in 10 weeks for the ultimate baking challenge. If you don’t think this is achievable, you’re welcome to set your own time frame.

Can I fundraise offline or do a mix of online and offline fundraising?

Yes. Please use the sponsor form provided so that you can capture Gift Aid which will boost your fundraising by 25% at no extra cost to the donor. Please pay in any offline donations using the paying in form provided.

What happens when I finish the 10 Bake Challenge?

Get in touch with Hannah on the details below. If you haven’t added photos of all your bakes to your fundraising page, make sure you email them to us – we’d love to see them! We’ll feature our favourite on your certificate.
