Supporting your Women and Children’s division

Making your maternity services even better

Each year more than 6,000 babies are born with the support of our dedicated maternity team in hospital and in the community.

Southmead Hospital and Cossham Birth Centre provide a holistic approach to support parents from early pregnancy through labour and birth to post-birth, breastfeeding, and support at home in the first weeks.

Many parents choose to give back in thanks for their care, by donating or fundraising to mark the birth of their child. You can do this through the hospitals’ official charity, Southmead Hospital Charity.

Your support can really make a difference

Thanks to donations from supporters like you, Southmead Hospital Charity has funded projects that are already making a huge difference to mums and babies:

  • Family room – a space where families can bond with their new babies.
  • MyPregnancy@NBT app – To support you in pregnancy, labour, birth and the early days.
  • Accommodation for parents of babies in our Neo-natal Intensive Care Unit
  • COVID-19 – during the Coronavirus pandemic we provided free scan photos to mums who could not be accompanied at antenatal scans by their partner

By donating today you can help projects like these:

  • much-needed renovations of our Cotswold Clinic which looks after women needing gynaecological examinations and also encompasses the Early Pregnancy Clinic
  • improving the comfort of our Maple Suite which is a private space for families who sadly lose their baby during pregnancy or shortly after birth
  • professional training opportunities for our amazing staff
  • maternity research projects

For a suggested donation of between £25 to £100, you can add a hot air balloon with the name of your child to the maternity balloon mural.
