Supporting us through a social group or membership club is a great way to get together, have fun and make a lasting impact on patient care in your local community.
By choosing to support us through an official Charity of the Year partnership, your community group can lead the way in transforming local healthcare but also inspire your friends, colleagues and families to become active in making their hospital even better.
Whether your chosen charity is decided by committee, personal experience or vote, we would love to be put forward for your consideration.
One of our fundraisers can give a talk to your group or have a meeting to help identify projects for support that are close to your heart and discuss how we can best engage with your group and your community.
We will invite you to one of our hospital tours so you can see what your hard work is supporting.
We can also provide Southmead Hospital Charity branded resources, such as buckets, banners and t-shirts.
Organise an event
Events are a great way to raise money and can be lots of fun.
From raffles to charity dinners, we can help you make the most of your event to fundraise for your hospital.
Speak to us to find out what works or decide what event you’d like to do with your club then let us know your plans are and we’ll help you get ready for the big day.
Take part in an event
Perhaps our events calendar will inspire you? Take a look through our range of events and organise your community group to take part!
Other Ways to support us…
Many national voluntary organisations have charitable organisations that will match fund or provide one-off donations to local branches to make their fundraising efforts go even further. Speak to your group’s treasurer or secretary to see if this is possible.
Perhaps your community group would like to donate their time and talent. We have lots of volunteering opportunities at the hospital and we are always looking for volunteers who can support us at events in and out of the hospital. Find out more.
Introduce us to other local organisations or companies that might be interested in playing a larger role in their community and supporting a great charity.
Support us through existing events
Ask for an existing event to support us. Does your children’s school host a Christmas concert? Does your gym host a charity spin or boot camp class? Contact the event’s organizer and see if he/she would donate all or part of the event’s proceeds to Southmead Hospital Charity.
Our Community Supporters
We are fortunate to have benefited from the support of local community groups who want to help us transform healthcare in Bristol and the South West.
Melody Makers Choir released a song celebrating the NHS in its 70th year in 2018.
‘We Are The Same Inside’ has had more than 18,000 downloads to date and money raised is donated to Southmead Hospital Charity.
The 80 strong-choir is made up of people from communities surrounding Southmead Hospital, including many former patients, NHS staff as well as children from Horfield C of E Primary School.
Composed and written by Melody Makers Choir leader, Natalie Veal with lyric support from choir member Natalie Sital-Singh, ‘We Are The Same Inside’ captures the ethos of an inclusive and dedicated health service.

“In September 2016 I collapsed and was rushed to Southmead Hospital for emergency surgery on an abdominal aortic aneurysm.
I received wonderful care from everyone at Southmead, particularly the Intensive Care Unit.
I have selected Southmead Hospital Charity as my charity of the year to say thank you for saving my life.”
Rev David Gray, 2018/19 Chairman, Rotary Club of Chippenham.
