We promise to keep safe any personal data you share with us, or that we get from other organisations. When we collect data from you we aim to be clear and transparent with how we use that data.

Collecting and using information from our fundraisers, donors and supporters allows us to develop a better understanding of our supporters which informs how we can fundraise more efficiently and communicate better, ultimately enabling us to raise more money and support more services at North Bristol NHS Trust.

What information do we collect?

You may choose to submit personal information about yourself ( and email address) through the forms we provide to enable you to find out more about our fundraising and charitable activities.

By entering your details in the fields requested you enable the Southmead Hospital Charity to provide you with the information you require. Any information you provide to the Southmead Hospital Charity will only be used by us.  We will not pass on your information to any third parties or other charitable organisations. Personal patient information will not be used by the charity for the purposes of fundraising.

If our privacy policy changes in any way, we will place an updated version on this page. Regularly reviewing the page ensures you are always aware of what information we collect, how we use it and under what circumstances, if any, we will share it with other parties.

What is a cookie?

Which cookies do we use?


Cookie: has_js

To check whether certain interactive services will work when you view the website. The Cookie expires as you leave the website.

Cookie: __cfduid

The __cfduid cookie is used to override any security restrictions based on the IP address the visitor is coming from. For example, if the visitor is on public Wi-Fi where there are a bunch of infected machines, but the visitor’s machine is known trusted, then the cookie can override the security setting. It does not correspond to any userid in the web application, nor does the cookie store any personally identifiable information. Note: This cookie is strictly necessary for site security operations and can’t be turned off.


Cookies used: GoogleAccountsLocale_session, S, SID, SAPISID, APISID, SSID, HSID, NID, PREF, _ga

Data stored: A random unique number or string of letters and numbers to identify your browser, the times and dates that you interacted with the site recently and the marketing materials or referring pages that led you to the site. Various unique identifiers, except for PREF which stores your options such as preferred zoom level.

When do they expire: For Google Maps most of the cookies expire 10 years after your last visit to a page containing a Google Map. For Google Anayltics the longest lasting cookie expires 2 years after your last visit to the website. Others are deleted 6 months, 30 minutes and the moment you close your browser.

Description: We use Google Maps, Google Analytics and Google Translate within the website. The purpose of these are to enhance the visitor experience and help us improve our content by providing annoymous data about your visit.
