Thank you for considering leaving a gift in your Will to Southmead Hospital Charity.
Every gift makes a life-changing difference. Even leaving a small percentage of your estate, after taking care of loved ones, could have a lasting impact on the care that we can provide for the community – including your friends and family, after you’ve gone.

The only information your solicitor or professional adviser needs for you to leave a gift in your will to Southmead, or any other North Bristol NHS Trust hospital, is our charity details, which are as follows:

It is important for us to invest in areas of greatest need; however, we understand you may want to fund something specific, in which case you should express this clearly alongside the gift in your Will.
Where your gift is for a specific purpose, we must use the funds exactly as specified. However, this can sometimes present a challenge if a particular service is no longer available or if an equipment or research fundraising appeal has ended. In situations like these, we would need to apply to the Charity Commission to be able to use the funds as closely as possible to the original purpose, which can cause considerable delay.
To future-proof your Will we recommend you express your wishes in the form of a non-binding wish and be more general rather than specific. We will always try to follow your wishes. In the event of being unable to do so, we will use the gift as closely as possible to your wish.
If you would like more guidance on leaving a gift for a specific purpose, please contact our legacy team.
