Supporting our Intensive Care Unit (ICU)

How can I support Southmead Hospital ICU?

Whether you want to make a one-off or regular donation, give in memory of a loved one, or raise money for the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), we’re here to help you.

Your donations mean our ICU team is able to give the best possible care to critically ill patients. Your generosity will support projects that benefit the 2,600 patients admitted to the ICU each year and provide support to their families during emotionally challenging times.

Whatever you can give, your donation will help make your ICU stronger now and in the future.

If you have any questions about donating to the ICU, please contact us and we’ll get back to you.

Making Southmead Hospital ICU even better

Every day, seven people from across Bristol, South Gloucestershire, and beyond will find themselves in need of immediate, critical care from the expert team at Southmead Hospital ICU.

Our ICU is one of the busiest in the country, treating patients for a huge range of complex illnesses and injuries. Throughout the pandemic, the staff that make up the ICU team have been absolutely vital in Bristol’s fight against Covid-19.

Spending time in the ICU can have a profound and lasting effect on both patients and families. Sadly, some people are too poorly to recover. The care and support patients and their families receive often mean that many choose to give back to the unit as a way of saying thank you.

Thanks to generous donations from past patients, their families, and the local community, we’ve been able to purchase the latest, high-tech equipment for the ICU. Every donation we receive from you helps us to improve the already exceptional care that the team is delivering to patients every day.
